Hanzō (半蔵) also known as Hanzō of the Salamander (山椒魚の半蔵, Sanshōuo no Hanzō) was a legendary ninja who was the former leader of Amegakure. He was very security-conscious, being guarded twenty-four hours a day and having anyone who wanted to see him thoroughly searched. He became famous around the time of the Second Great Ninja War. Little is known of his abilities aside from his riding on the head of a giant salamander (presumably a summon), but he was so powerful that he with his summon fought off all three Sannin. After their battle, he was so impressed with their strength that he decided to leave them if they agreed to accept the title of Konoha's Legendary Three Ninja (伝説の三忍, Densetsu no Sannin); This makes him responsible for the naming of the trio's title. Being capable of defeating all the three Sannin head-on, Hanzo is easily a kage-level ninja. His power was such that Jiraiya expressed intense shock upon hearing that Hanzo had been defeated by Pain.

Hanzo's insecurities later got the better of him when a group of ninja, lead by Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan began a quest to end war through unorthodox means. He viewed these ninja as a threat to his power and sought to get rid of them. He then teamed up with the ANBU Root's leader Danzo to kill the group's leader Yahiko in a treacherous manner. He was later single-handedly killed by Pain (under unknown circumstances). The hatred that Nagato had for him for causing Yahiko's death was so severe that he conducted a systematic genocide on anybody even remotely associated with Hanzo (with the exception of Danzo, who somehow escaped the carnage).

Abilities
While Hanzo's abilities as ninja are mostly unknown, Hanzo was easily one of the strongest ninja of his time. His trademark ability was the summoning of a giant salamander to aid him in battle. When battling alongside his salamander, Hanzo was powerful enough to fight and eventually overpower all three Sannin in their prime. During his attempt to kill Nagato, Hanzo demonstrated impressive skill for trap-oriented techniques as he anticipated Nagato attacking him and had several exploding tags prepared.

Speed: Though it is unknown how exactly fast Hanzō was, It was shown in chapter 447, Hanzō was skilled in the art of Shunshin, being able to teloport at high speeds. Hanzo was able to easily fight and nearly take down hundreds of ninja with pure Taijutsu, fused with his speed.

Taijutsu: Hanzō's full abilities of Taijutsu are currently unknown but it was Hinted by Jiraiya that Hanzō was a master at Taijutsu. He was able to fight off Tsunade in the Great Ninja Wars, Meaning he most likely was gifted since Tsunade used mostly Taijutsu.

Fire Release: Hanzō has been seen very gifted at Fire Techniques, As seen in Chapter 447 when he released Exploding tags, Becoming a massive ball of flames which burnt Nagato so badly he ended up being in a 'chair' for the rest of his life. Also as seen that jiraiya had fire burns in his flash back with the battle with Hanzō.

Summoning: Hanzō was known throughout the entire ninja world as Sanshōuo no Hanzō, Literally meaning "Hanzo of the Salamander". He was given this name because he was always with his Salamander, Riding on its head as a massive summon. This summon was said to be able to fight off Katsuya, Manda and Gamabunta in battle, As well as it could produce sticky water from its wart like formations.

Rain Control: Much like Nagato's Deva Path, Hanzo was able to control rain fall all around him, making it rain all the time in the rain village. It is unknown how well he cpuld use this skill but it was shown he could summon kunai in it to rain down from the sky and explode.

Body Flicker Technique (瞬身の術, Shunshin no Jutsu; English TV "Teleportation Jutsu")

This jutsu is a high-speed movement technique, allowing a ninja to move short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed. To an observer, it appears as if the user has teleported. A puff of smoke is occasionally used to disguise the user's movements. It is accomplished by using chakra to temporarily vitalise the body and move at extreme speeds. The amount of chakra required depends on the overall distance and elevation between the user and their intended destination. Shisui Uchiha was feared as "Shisui of the Body Flicker" (瞬身のシスイ, Shunshin no Shisui), likely referring to this technique.

The Body Flicker Technique has various variations among the different hidden villages, all of which involve some extra element aside from the movement itself. The extra element is usually some sort of substance used to distract the opponent, such as leaves or sand. Gaara, for instance, uses the Sand Body Flicker (砂瞬身, Suna-Shunshin), which uses sand to cover his movements. Other varieties include the Mist Body Flicker (霧瞬身, Kiri-Shunshin), Water Body Flicker (水瞬身, Mizu-Shunshin), and Leaf Body Flicker (木ノ葉瞬身, Konoha-Shunshin).

Before a summon can be performed, a prospective summoner must first sign a contract with a given species.[2] The contract can come in the form of a scroll or a tattoo. The summoner then signs the contract in their own blood. After this, they need only perform the hand seals, offer an additional donation of blood, and use the same hand they signed the contract with to summon the creature.[3] The amount of chakra used during the summoning determines how big the summoned creature can be. It should be noted that anyone can summon the animal as long as they have the blood from someone who has made a contract, along with sufficient chakra of their own.

While most summoners have only been shown capable of summoning one type of creature, Pain has been seen summoning several different animals and even people. Pain does not provide a blood offering when performing a summon.

When an animal is summoned it is transported from its place of residence to the summoner's location. Once summoned, the animal can perform a task or help the user in battle. The summon is not required to help the user, and may be more of a hindrance than an ally. In addition, summons are able to summon their summoner. They may also wear a forehead protector, suggesting a loyalty to only one village.

Summoning can serve as a base for other jutsu, as is the case with Summoning: Food Cart Destroyer Technique and Summoning: Quick Beheading Dance. In these cases, summoning may not be restricted to creatures, Orochimaru also summoning corpses or defenses. Items can also be "summoned" from scrolls. Because the items are not summoned from anywhere, instead only being released from storage, no blood is needed and thus it is not a conventional summoning.


Exploding Tag Style: Ground Form (Kibaku Fuda: Chikaima)

This technique is a unique and special jutsu used and created by Hanzo. After forming the necassary hand seals, Hanzo places his hands to the ground, each hand a different amount though. If Hanzo puts one hand to the ground only part of the ground around the feild begins to morph to exploding tags, but if Hanzo places both a large formation around the target begins to turn into exploding tags.

This technique is a unique and special jutsu style which was created and used by Hanzo. Unlike the Exploding Tag Style: Ground Form, this move brings the ground up and turning a large motion of it to exploding tags. The exploding tags fly through the air and move to the targets body, Beginning to bind there legs. This can be used to stop them from moving or to explode on contact. Hanzo was seen using this technique on Nagato as a kid when he attacked.


Exploding Tag Style: Hot Flame Burst (Kibaku Fuda: Attohiha)

This technique is a unique and special jutsu style which was created and used by only Hanzo. Instead of the Exploding Tag Style: Ground Form and Exploding Tag Style Leg Binding, This move summons several balls of Exploding tags in Hanzo's palm. Hanzo throws these balls toward the target, they explode in air and using chakra Hanzo channels all the flames foward like a wave washing over the land.

The Reverse Shuriken Spin is a special technique created by Hanzo for the members of the rain village. Using this technique the user brings out several shuriken, using blinding speed they body flicker behind the target, sending the shuriken at them from behind.

Hanzo was seen skilled in many ways, many of them were Taijutsu and weapon style moves, One unnamed technique which was seen in the manga is Cloud of Falling Kunai. With this technique Hanzo summons a large seal to form in the sky, The sky begins to summon multiple kunai to come raining down around the target, Exploding tags connected to the kunai so when they land on the ground they explode.

Smoke Bomb Style: Heavy Haze Technique (Kemuri Baku: Omoi Oboro no Jutsu)

This technique is a special style of Weapon and smoke bombs used by Hanzo. The technique itself is very basic, being used to release multiple hidden smoke bombs around him and covering the feild in a thick and black Smokey Haze. Hanzo brings out several smoke bombs from his pouch, Rushing toward the target as he tosses them through the air, Using a special technique he is able to duplicate the smoke bombs, causing them to turn into multiple smoke bombs which explode in black smoke. Danzo bends the smoke with his chakra to cover the feild, making a thick black haze which is almost unseeable. Hanzo's chakra can run through it and locate the target through it, Also for Dojutsu like Sharingan and Byakugan they can see through it.

Similar to the Clone Technique, this jutsu creates clones of the user. Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies, not illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. They can also disperse on their own. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original.

Unlike other clone techniques, they can't be detected by the Byakugan because the clones have the exact same amount of chakra and aren't made from any other substance, making them indistinguishable from the actual person. In the anime, Sasuke Uchiha claims that the Sharingan can distinguish clones from the original.

A special form of ninjutsu created by Fire Release and Exploding Tags, Mixed together in a deadly combination. Hanzo summons serveal Exploding Tags, Throwing them air as threads of chakra connect to them suspending them in air. Using Fire Element to ignite his chakra, Fire Spreads up the Exploding tags causing them to explode. Hanzo concentrates his chakra flow to narrow the explosion into a strong blast like flame thrower.

Senbon Striking Pressure Point (Senbon Ranshinshō)

As hanzo holds several Senbon in his hand, He analyzes the targets movements. When the time is right he sends them shooting at the target, The senbon are angled to strike pressure points in there body, Paralyzing them or stopping there chakra flow completely. Hanzo uses this technique to fight armies easily.
